Next Level Shepard's Pie

Today I was hankering for some tasty Shepard's pie with creamy cheesy mash potatoes and thought I would twist it up a bit by smoking lamb shanks instead of the traditional ground lamb. Oh my word. It was one of the best Shepard's pie I have had in a long time.


For lamb:
Lamb shanks 2
Olive oil 2 Tablespoon ((((2 tbsp for greasing the lamb and 1 tbsp for cooking the onions))))
All purpose rub 6 Tablespoon
Butter 1 Tablespoon
For lamb mixture:
Olive oil 1 Tablespoon
Onion 1 , dice
Garlic 3 Clove (15 gm) , mince
Chopped rosemary 2 Teaspoon
Paprika 1/2 Teaspoon
Salt To Taste
Freshly ground black pepper To Taste
Ketchup 1 Tablespoon
Flour 2 Tablespoon
Guinness beer 2 1/2 Cup (40 tbs)
Beef stock 2 Cup (32 tbs) ((((use more or less to adjust thickness as needed))))
Frozen peas and carrots 12 Ounce
For potato topping:
Yukon gold potatoes 2 1/2 Pound
Butter 1 Tablespoon
Salt To Taste
Pepper To Taste
Ground cayenne pepper 1 Pinch
Cream cheese 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Irish cheddar cheese 1/4 Pound
Egg yolk 1 , beaten
Milk 2 Tablespoon
