Today Im sharing with you our recipe for Ambrosia, which is a classic Southern fruit salad. There are many different ways of making this but we like to beflexible and use a mix of fresh and canned fruit to makethis a convenient salad to whip up anytime of year.
|Canned pineapple chucks||20 Ounce , drained ((juice reserved, 1 can))|
|Apple||1 Large , peeled ((chopped))|
|Sugar||1/2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Sour cream||1/2 Cup (8 tbs)|
|Canned fruit cocktail||15 Ounce , drained ((1 can))|
|Canned mandarin oranges||30 Ounce ((2 cans of 15 ounce each))|
|Mini marshmallows||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Chopped pecans||1 Cup (16 tbs)|
|Shredded coconut||1 Cup (16 tbs) ((unsweetened, but sweetened works too))|
1.Place the pineapple juice in a small bowl and add in the chopped apple. Stir to coat and set aside.
2.Place the sugar and sour cream together in a large bowl and stir until well combined.
3.Drain the apples (discard juice) and add them and all other ingredients to the sour cream mixture.
4.Stir well to combine. Cover, and refrigerate several hours before serving.
