Heart shaped cake pans make this a romantic treat, but any shape pan with do with Rebecca's crafty trick to make hearts using a home made red sugar sprinkle design. Red food coloring is minimized in this red velvet cake, and the pink frosting is pretty for Valentines Day fun. Cream cheese, butter and powdered sugar are the basis for this super delicious cake frosting. Happy Valentines Day!


Butter 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) (1 stick)
Sugar 1 1/2 Cup (24 tbs)
Eggs 2
Buttermilk 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Distilled white vinegar 1 Teaspoon
Vanilla extract 1 Teaspoon
Red food colouring 2 Tablespoon
All purpose flour 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Unsweetened cocoa powder 1 Tablespoon
Baking powder 1 Teaspoon
Baking soda 1 Teaspoon
For frosting:
Powdered sugar 3 Cup (48 tbs) (plus extra for sprinkling)
Butter 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) (1 stick)
Cream cheese 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Vanilla extract 1 Teaspoon
Red food coloring 3 Drop (plus extra for sprinkling)
