Ragi Rava Upma - Nachni Rava Upma - Healthy Breakfast And Tiffin - Upma

Finger millet 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) (ragi)
Rava 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Chana dal 1 1/2 Teaspoon
Urad dal 1 1/2 Teaspoon
Onion 1 , chop
Hot water 2 1/2 Cup (40 tbs)
Ghee 2 Tablespoon
Green chillies 2 , chop
Chopped ginger 1 Teaspoon
Curry leaves 8
Hing 1/4 Teaspoon
Mustard seeds 1/2 Teaspoon
Cumin seeds 1/2 Teaspoon
Roasted peanuts 2 Tablespoon
Salt To Taste
Coriander leaves 1 Teaspoon , chopped finely (for garnish)
Lemon juice 1 Teaspoon (for garnish)



1.Wash the Ragi and soak for 30 minutes.

2.Remove from water and squeeze extra water. Keep aside.


3.Heat ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds and mustard seeds, let it crackle.

4.Next add both the dals (chana dal, urad dal) and roasted peanuts, fry till golden in colour.

5.Add curry leaves, hing, green chillies, ginger, onions and sauté for 2-3 minutes.

6.Add the rava, soaked ragi, salt and cook for 4-5 minutes, till it is roasted well.

7.Mix to a simmer and slowly pour hot water.

8.Cover and cook till all the water is absorbed.

9.Once all the water is absorbed remove from heat.


10.Serve hot with garnish of lemon juice and coriander leaves.
