Kanchipuram Style Masala Idli - Healthy Breakfast - How To Make Idli At home

Idli batter 1 Kilogram
Cumin seeds 1 Teaspoon
Mustard seeds 1 Teaspoon
Pepper 1 Teaspoon
Ghee 1 Teaspoon
Refined oil 2 Teaspoon
Cashew nuts 10
Ginger powder 1 Teaspoon



1.Grind the pepper and cumin seeds to make it a spice mix.

2.To the batter add ginger powder, salt and mix.

3. Pour refined oil in a pan and add mustard seeds. When the mustard seeds start to sputter, add chana dal and fry till the dal turns golden brown colour.

4.Add curry leaves, spice mix and fry for 10 seconds.

5.Add this mixture to the batter and stir the batter well.

6.Add finely chopped coriander leaves to it.

7.Take a flat bowl or cake tin, grease it with ghee and keep the coriander leaf at the bottom.

8.Pour the idli batter into it till half of its capacity. Steam cook for 10 minutes.

9.Allow it to fully cool off before cutting the idli. Allow it to fully cool off before cutting the idli.


10.Serve with gun powder and chutney.
