This six-ingredient recipe is simple to prepare and simply delicious. Serve with whole-wheat rolls or over whole-wheat pasta.
|Low fat turkey sausage||2 Pound (Italian, low sodium available, casing discarded)|
|Canned no salt added diced tomato||29 Ounce , undrained (2 cans, 14 1/2 ounce each)|
|Bell pepper||3 Medium , chop (combination of colors)|
|Red onion||1 Large , chop|
|Garlic||6 Clove (30 gm) , mince (medium)|
|Dried italian seasoning||1 Tablespoon , crumbled (plus 1 tsp)|
1.In a large bowl, stir together all the ingredients.
2.Divide the stew between two 1-gallon resealable plastic freezer bags. 3.Place the bags flat in the freezer and freeze.
4.Thaw the bags overnight in the refrigerator.
5.Pour the contents of the bags into a slow cooker.
6.Cook, covered, on low for 6 hours, or until the vegetables are tender.
7.Serve and enjoy!
