How To Make Nutella Filled Cupcakes With Nutella Frosting

Vanilla buttermilk cupcakes with a dollop of nutella in the middle, topped off with a nutella buttercream frosting, then hazelnuts and chocolate shavings. Nutella cupcakes are absolutely delicious, my favorite cupcakes by far. I adapted this recipe from the Butch Bakery Cookbook This is an easy recipe, definitely worth making.


For cupcakes:
Cake flour 1 1/2 Cup (24 tbs)
All purpose flour 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Baking powder 1 Teaspoon
Baking soda 3/4 Teaspoon
Salt 1/2 Teaspoon
Unsalted butter 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) (softened, at room temperature)
Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Eggs 2
Vanilla extract 2 Teaspoon
Buttermilk 1 Cup (16 tbs) , shaken
Nutella 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Chopped hazelnuts 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Grated milk chocolate 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
For chocolate hazelnut buttercream:
Unsalted softened butter 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Nutella 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Confectioners’ sugar 2 Cup (32 tbs) , sifted
Milk/Heavy cream 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)



Preheat oven to 350°F/ 180°C.

Line cupcake trays with liners.



In a bowl, combine cake flour, all purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and whisk well.

Cream together butter and sugars in another bowl. Add eggs, vanilla extract and stir well to combine.

Mix with flour mixture and add buttermilk. Keep the batter ready.

Scoop equal quantities of batter into cupcake liners and fill 3/4th of liners. Top with a dollop of nutella and cover with batter.

Pop into oven and bake for 20-23 minutes.

For frosting, beat nutella and butter until light and fluffy.

Add confectioners’ sugar, milk and beat for 2-3 minutes until creamy.

Once done, allow the cupcakes to cool completely and frost with prepared frosting.

Garnish with grated chocolate and hazelnuts.
