Hot Garlic Sauce - Chinese Style Sauce

An essential recipe for those who love Oriental cuisine, the Chinese-style Hot Garlic Sauce is a very garlicky and spicy sauce that is sure to set your palate on fire! It can be used as an accompaniment, or used in cooking such as to coat fried Manchurian balls, sauté deep-fried potatoes, etc. It tends to get thick over time, so add a little water and adjust the consistency according to the requirement.


Finely chopped garlic 1 1/2 Tablespoon (lehsun)
Schezuan sauce 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Chilli sauce 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Cornflour 1 Tablespoon
Oil 1 1/2 Tablespoon
Finely chopped ginger 1/2 Teaspoon (adrak)
Finely chopped green chilies 1 Teaspoon
Finely chopped spring onions 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) (whites and greens)
Soy sauce 1/2 Teaspoon
Salt To Taste



1. Combine the cornflour and 3/4 cup of water in a bowl and mix very well. Keep aside.

2. Heat the oil in a broad non-stick pan, add the garlic, ginger and green chillies and sauté on a medium flame for 30 seconds.

3. Add the spring onions, Schezuan sauce, chilli sauce and soya sauce, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 minute, while stirring occasionally.

4. Add the cornflour-water mixture and salt, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 minute, while stirring continuously.


5.Use as required.
