Panchmel Dal - How To Make Panchmel Daal - Panchratna Dal - Mixed Dal Recipe

Indian dal lovers, this recipe is for you - 'Rajasthani Panchmel Dal' made with a classic mixture of chana , masoor, moong, arhar and urad.

Ingredients

Split green gram 1 Tablespoon (moong dal,skinless)
Bengal gram 1 Tablespoon (chana dal,skinless)
Split red gram 1 Tablespoon (arhar dal,skinless)
Split black gram 1 Tablespoon (urad dal,skinless)
Split red gram 1 Tablespoon (masoor dal,skinless)
Ghee 2 Tablespoon
Cumin seeds 1 Teaspoon
Cardamom pods 2
Dry red chillies 2
Chopped tomatoes 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Chopped ginger 1 Teaspoon
Asafoetida 1/2 Teaspoon (hing)
Turmeric powder 1 Teaspoon
Cumin powder 1 Teaspoon
Red chilli powder 1 Teaspoon
Salt To Taste
Fresh coriander 1 (1 sprig,for garnish)
Water 1 Cup (16 tbs) (as required)

Directions

GETTING READY:

1.Mix all the dals together and soak them in water for half an hour.

2.Boil them and keep aside.

MAKING:

3.Heat ghee in a pan and add cumin seeds, cardamom pods, dry red chillies, chopped tomatoes and stir well.

4.Add chopped ginger, asafoetida, cumin powder, red chilli powder and mix well.

5.Add the boiled mixed dal and water in the pan.

6.Mix and churn well. Add salt to taste.

7.Garnish with a dollop of ghee and fresh coriander.

SERVING:

8.Serve hot.
