Inspired by the movie "Chef", this Cuban sandwich is just as juicy and delicious - you can't go wrong with crusty bread, tender pork, cheese, ham and mustard- like a real Cubano, but way easier.

Boneless pork loin chops | 6 , thinly cut ((300 g)) | |
Butter | 1 Tablespoon | |
Olive oil | 1 Tablespoon | |
Black pepper | 1 Teaspoon | |
Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
Dried garlic powder | 1 Teaspoon | |
Dried thyme | 1 Teaspoon | |
Paprika | 1 Teaspoon | |
Dried mustard seeds | 1 Teaspoon | |
For the sandwiches: | ||
Bread loaf/6 slices of bread | 1 Medium | |
Softened butter | 1 1/2 Tablespoon | |
Dijon mustard | 1 1/2 Tablespoon | |
Thin ham slice | 9 ((150 g)) | |
Pickles | 2 Small , thinly sliced | |
Cheese slice | 6 ((yellow. I like Gouda or Emmental but Swiss is good too)) |
GETTING READY:
Preheat grill and grease with olive oil.
MAKING:
Grind black pepper, salt, garlic powder, thyme, paprika and mustard seeds using a mortar and pestle.
Rub the spice mixture on all the sides of pork chops.
Heat a pan with olive oil and butter. Place pork chops (4 per batch) and cook for 2-3 minutes until golden brown and well cooked.
Drain off excess oil using paper towels.
For assembling, butter 1 side of each bread slice and spread mustard on the side.
Place 2 pork pieces on each side followed by ham, cheese and pickles.
Top with other side and cook on grill greased with olive oil.
Cook for 3-5 minutes until golden brown. Give adequate pressure while grilling.
SERVING:
Serve with ketchup and enjoy!
