Rockstar energy drink is a leading energy drink brand of United States, which is manufactured by Rockstar Inc. and is distributed by Pepsico. The energy drink was developed in the year 2001, and by 200,8 it had captured 14% of the US market. It is available in various flavors and variants, including sugar-free and low-carb versions. Rockstar is based in the city of Las Vegas, and this popular energy boosting drink by this company is sold in more than twenty countries across the globe.

 

History of Rockstar Drink

Rockstar was founded by Russell Weiner in 1999. The drink was positioned as an energy drink that provided faster recovery from stressed conditions to people leading active lifestyles like athletes and rock stars. The drink was packaged in 16oz bottles against 8oz bottles from the market leader Red Bull, and though the pricing was the same as that of Red Bull bottles.

Rockstar achieved a record 155% growth in the year 2004. It made it to the list of top three energy drinks in North America by the year 2007, and captured 14% of the energy drink market by the year 2008. By the year 2009, it was being sold in more than 20 countries, and in the same year, it changed its distributors from Coca Cola to Pepsico.

Rockstar energy drink ingredients include sugar, caffeine and various types of herbs like ginkgo biloba, panax geng, guarana seeds and milk thistle extract. The percentage of guarana was decreased after the negative health effects of the herb were published in the media.

The caffeine content in Rockstar energy drink is 32g per 2.5 oz of the drink, while its competitor drink Red Bull contains 150mg per 16oz of the drink. The caffeine content of Rockstar energy gum is the same as that in an 8 oz can of Rockstar drink.
