Web chef, Kimberly Turner, shares with you How to Bake Chocolate Chip Shortbread Cookies for Valentine's Day!


Icing sugar 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Sugar 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Unsalted butter 3/4 Cup (12 tbs) (at room temperature)
Salt 1/4 Teaspoon
Flour 1 1/2 Cup (24 tbs)
Water 4 Drop (3
Maraschino cherries 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) , chopped
Chocolate chips 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) , chopped



1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.

2. Preheat oven to 350 degree F.


3. In a large mixing bowl, cream sugar, icing sugar, and butter until light and fluffy.

4. Add salt and flour, 1/3 at a time and beat after each addition. Add water and beat well.

5. Mix in chocolate chips and then fold in cherries.

6. On pastry sheet, transfer the mixture and press with hands until they hold together.

7. Wrap dough tightly with plastic wrap and pop in refrigerator for 15 minutes.

8. Roll out the dough into ½-inch thick sheet and then cut into shapes. Place them on the baking sheet.

9.Pop the baking sheet in oven at 350 degree F. Immediately reduce the heat to 300 degree F and bake for 8-12 minutes or until slightly golden at the edges.

10. Remove from oven and let the cookies cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes. Transfer to wire rack and cool completely.


Serve and enjoy!


If using salted butter no need of using salt.

You can use pecans, almonds, or hazelnuts instead of cherries.
