Ginger Snow Cookies

In this episode, we are revisiting the holidays and showing you how to make cute and delicious ginger snow cookies! Spicy!


Shortening 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Brown sugar 1 1/2 Cup (24 tbs)
Flour 5 1/2 Cup (88 tbs)
Baking powder 1 1/2 Teaspoon
Baking soda 1 Teaspoon
Molasses 3/4 Cup (12 tbs)
Ground cinnamon 1 Tablespoon
Ground nutmeg 1 Teaspoon
Ground ginger 1 Tablespoon
Honey 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Eggs 2 Medium
Salt 1 Pinch
Spiced rum 1 Tablespoon (Captain Morgan)
For dusting on cookies
Powdered sugar 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)



1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

2. In a bowl combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, ground ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Set aside.


3. In a separate bowl, cream shortening and water with the brown sugar together.

4. Add the rum. Mix until smooth.

5. Pour in molasses and honey and then mix again.

6. Slowly add the dry ingredients from earlier into bowl.

7. Add in the two eggs. Mix thoroughly until no lumps remain and forms smooth dough.

8. Take the dough out and roll flat with a rolling pin on a floured surface.

9. Cut out shapes using cookie cutter (if desired) or if making ginger snow caps, roll into moderate-sized balls and flatten the top with the back of a fork.

10. Place on greased baking pan (or on parchment paper). Bake in oven for 20 minutes.

11. Take out of the oven when done and lightly dust over the top of them with powdered sugar.


12. In a serving platter, arrange the cookies and serve them with a glass of eggnog, spiced rum, or hot chocolate in the cold winter season.
