These are SERIOUSLY the BEST chocolate sugar cookies, made for chocolate lovers! And you chocolate lovers know who you are! The texture of these cookies are soft and tender- they are bursting with a rich chocolatey flavor, and, like my vanilla sugar cookie recipe, these melt in your mouth. Chocolate Hearts the perfect Valentine's Day treat :)

For cookies:
All purpose flour 2 1/4 Cup (36 tbs)
Cocoa powder 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Baking soda 1/2 Teaspoon
Baking powder 1/2 Teaspoon
Salt 1/2 Teaspoon
Unsalted butter 1 Cup (16 tbs) , softened
Granulated sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Eggs 2 Large
Vanilla extract 1 1/2 Teaspoon
Sprinkles 1 Tablespoon (optional)
For icing:
Cocoa powder 1 Tablespoon
Powdered sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Melted butter 2 Tablespoon
Milk 5 Tablespoon
Vanilla extract 1 Teaspoon (for vanilla icing)

In a bowl, combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, salt and mix well.

In another bowl, cream together sugar and butter. Add eggs, vanilla extract and mix well.

Add flour mixture and knead well to form a smooth dough.

Divide dough into two portions and wrap in cling film. Pop into refrigerator and chill the dough balls for 1 hour.

Preheat oven to 200°C.

Line baking sheets with parchment paper.

Roll the balls and using cookie cutters cut out shapes.

Place on baking sheets and pop into oven.

Bake for 4-6 minutes at 200°C.

For chocolate icing, combine cocoa and butter in a bowl. Add sugar, milk and mix well.

Spread on cooled cookies.

For vanilla icing, combine sugar, butter, milk and vanilla extract. Spread over cookies.

Serve and enjoy!
