Betty demonstrates how to make Chocolate Covered Cherry Cookies to serve at Christmas parties and get-togethers. These are great holiday treats!

Butter 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Egg 1
Vanilla extract 1 1/2 Teaspoon
All purpose flour
Cocoa powder 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Salt 1/2 Teaspoon , divided
Baking powder 1/4 Teaspoon
Baking soda 1/4 Teaspoon
Drained maraschino cherries 24
Semisweet chocolate chips 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Sweetened condensed milk 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Maraschino cherry juice 1 1/2 Teaspoon

In a large bowl, mix butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla.

Then add flour, cocoa powder, ¼ teaspoon salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Blend well.

Dough will be stiff. Shape into 1-inch balls.

Place the balls 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Push one maraschino cherry halfway into each ball.

When all cookies are shaped, prepare frosting and use immediately. For frosting, melt semisweet chocolate chips along with sweetened condensed milk, and then stir in ¼ teaspoon salt and maraschino cherry juice.

Spread ½ teaspoon frosting over each cherry. Bake at 350 degrees (F) for 8 to 10 minutes.

Remove from oven and let cool.

Transfer to nice serving plate.
