Double Chocolate Drops

Semisweet chocolate pieces 6 Ounce (1 Package)
Sifted all purpose flour
Baking soda 1/2 Teaspoon
Salt 1/2 Teaspoon
Butter/Margarine 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) , softened (1 Stick)
Sugar 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Egg 1
Warm water 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Coarsely chopped walnuts/Coarsely chopped pecans 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)



1. Preheat oven to 375 F.

2. Lightly grease cookie sheets.


3. In the top bowl of a double boiler, melt ½ cup chocolate pieces. Do not heat the water too hot or the chocolate will curdle.

4. Sift the flour baking soda, and salt together and set aside

5. In the large bowl of an electric mixer, beat the sugar, butter and egg till light and fluffy.

6. Reduce speed and add the melted chocolate while beating. Then pour in the warm water

7. Beat in the flour mixture till just combined and add the chocolate pieces and the nuts. Chill for 30 minutes.

8. Drop spoonfuls of the batter on toe the prepared sheet and decorated with more chopped nuts or shaved chocolate. Bake for 10-12 minutes and remove to wire rack to cool.


9. Store cold or at room temperature.
