this chow mein recipe is a steak and vegetable preparation with bean sprouts. |Round steak||1 1/2 Pound , cubed|
|Onion||1 Medium , chopped|
|Butter||1/4 Cup (4 tbs)|
|Celery||2 Cup (32 tbs) , diced|
|Water||1 1/2 Cup (24 tbs)|
|Chinese vegetables||1 Can (10 oz) , drained|
|Bean sprouts||1 Can (10 oz) , drained|
|Mushrooms||1 Can (10 oz)|
|Soy sauce||1 Tablespoon|
Brown steak and onion in butter.
Add salt, pepper, celery and water.
Cover and simmer until meat is very tender.
Before serving, add Chinese vegetables, bean sprouts and mushrooms; heat mixture.
Combine 2 tablespoons cold water, cornstarch, soy sauce and sugar; add to mixture.
Serve with hot buttered rice and Chinese noodles on top.
Substitute 1 to 1 1/2 pounds ground beef for round steak and simmer only 20 minutes for a quick dish.
