Betty's Oven Roast Chicken

In this video, Betty demonstrates how to make Oven Roast Chicken. It is a gorgeous entrée that can be used for a festive dinner.


Whole chicken 4 1/2 Pound ((4
Butter 4 Tablespoon , softened ((3
Salt To Taste



1. Remove the package of giblets from inside the chicken and set aside for another purpose or discard. Wash and rinse the chicken inside and out. Using a paper towel pat it dry.

2. Preheat the oven to 425 F.

3. Coat butter all over the surface of the chicken and inside the cavity.

4. Then, sprinkle salt all around the chicken.


5. Place the chicken in a roasting pan that is appropriately sized for the chicken. Cover with a lid and place in the preheated oven. Bake for 30 minutes.

6. After 30 minutes, reduce the heat to 375 F. Continue to bake the chicken for another 30 to 40 minutes, until no pink is showing anywhere. Lift the chicken out of the roasting pan and place on a nice platter.


7. Serve the whole chicken, to be carved at the table, or carve the chicken and place the carved meat on a nice serving platter.


You may use the giblets from the chicken, to make a broth.
