Cheesy Broccoli Casserole recipe with homemade cheese sauce and crunchy cracker topping! Great holiday side dish.
Broccoli | 1 Pound | |
Butter | 2 Tablespoon | |
Flour | 2 Tablespoon | |
Salt | 1/8 Teaspoon | |
Pepper | 1/8 Teaspoon | |
Grated nutmeg | 1 Pinch | |
Grated cheese | 3/4 Cup (12 tbs) (combination of sharp Cheddar, Parmesan) | |
Sour cream | 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) | |
Crackers | 8 |
GETTING READY:
Preheat oven to 350°F.
MAKING:
Place broccoli florets into casserole with 1 tablespoon of water and cover with a lid. Microwave for 3 minutes or until tender.
In a saucepan, melt butter and whisk in flour. Cook for 45 seconds until smooth. Stir well.
Add ½ cup of milk and stir well. Add remaining milk, salt, pepper, nutmeg and mix well.
Add ½ cup of cheese and stir until it melts. Add sour cream to it and mix well.
Add drained broccoli and mix well. Transfer to the casserole and top with cracker and remaining cheese.
Pop into oven and bake for 25 minutes at 350°F until browned.
