Chocolate Coconut Cake

An irresistible cake with the dense aroma of brown sugar, the creamy texture of coconut, and the rich flavor of cocoa, the Chocolate Coconut Cake is a perfect accompaniment to tea with a special person on a special day! You will also appreciate the fact that it is more or less a no-fuss recipe that can be prepared quite easily.


Plain flour 1 1/2 Cup (24 tbs)
Baking powder 3/4 Teaspoon
Softened butter 3/4 Cup (12 tbs)
Brown sugar 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Condensed milk 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Milk 3/4 Cup (12 tbs)
Dessicated coconut 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Grated dark chocolate 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Vanilla essence 1 Teaspoon
For greasing and dusting
Plain flour 1 Tablespoon (For dusting)
Melted butter 1 Tablespoon (For greasing)



1. Grease and dust an 7-inch cake tin. Set aside.

2. Preheat oven to 180 degree C or 360 degree F.


3. In a bowl, sieve flour and baking powder.

4. In a bowl, cream butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add condensed milk and mix well.

5. Add milk, desiccated coconut, chocolate and vanilla essence. Mix well.

6. Fold in plain flour-baking powder mixture and transfer batter into the prepared cake pan.

7. Pop the cake tin in oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the cake is golden brown or a knife inserted in the cake comes out clean.


8. Cut into wedges and serve.
