GETTING READY
1. Preheat oven to 350 degree F.
MAKING
For Cake Mix:
2. In a large mixing bowl, mix together buttermilk, oil and eggs. Set aside.
3. In another large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt. Stir well.
4. Slowly add the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients and beat after each addition.
5. Add vanilla extract and boiling water. Mix well.
6. Into a greased 9x13 baking dish, pour the cake batter and bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Remove from oven and allow the cake to completely cool.
For Frosting:
7. In a large bowl, beat powdered sugar, vanilla, and butter. Add the milk a little at a time until it forms a frosting-like texture.
8. Crumble the cake and add in the frosting. Use your hands to combine the frosting and cake. If the cake seems dry add in a little more frosting until you are able to form a ball.
9. Form cake mixture into balls and then place a lolly-pop stick into the center of each. Place the balls upside down on a cookie sheet and repeat the process until all the cake mixture is gone.
10. Place the cake balls into a freezer for 30 minutes.
FINALIZING
11. In a large bowl, pour candy melts and pop in the microwave on high for 20 seconds. Take out candy melts, stir and place back in the microwave for another 20 seconds. Repeat this process until the candy melts.
12. Once melted add in vegetable oil (Work in small increments - start with 12 oz of candy melts and 2 tbsp of vegetable oil).
13. Dip or roll the cake pops in the candy melt and place the stick into an upside down colander to harden. Repeat the process for the remaining pops.
