Cherry Coffee Cake

Homemade Cherry Coffee Cake is a treat my grandmother used to make when I was growing up. I knew when ever I went to visit, homemade baked goods were in store. This homemade cherry coffee cake is easy to make, and can be prepared in about an hour.

Ingredients

Flour 2 Cup (32 tbs) , divided
Baking powder 2 Teaspoon
Ground cinnamon 2 Teaspoon , divided
Butter 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) (divided into tablespoons)
Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs) , divided
Eggs 2 Large
Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
Half and half 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Cherry pie filling can 21 Ounce
Water 1 Teaspoon

Directions

GETTING READY

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

MAKING

2. In medium bowl, combine 1 3/4 cup flour, baking powder, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and set aside.

3. In large bowl, with electric mixer on high speed, beat 5 tablespoons butter and 3/4 cup sugar until creamy.

4. Blend in eggs and vanilla. On low speed, gradually add flour mixture alternating with milk until well combined.

5. Spread batter into greased 9-inch spring form pan; spoon cherry pie filling over batter.

6. Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes.

7. Meanwhile, combine remaining flour, sugar, and cinnamon.

8. Cut in remaining butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs; stir in water.

9. Sprinkle over top of coffee cake in oven.

10. Bake 15 to 20 minutes more or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan or wire rack for 25 minutes.

11. Remove outside ring of pan.

SERVING

12. Serve warm or at room temperature with a cup of hot coffee or tea .
