St. Patty's Day Cake Pops

Simple put, a CAKE Lollipop! This trendy dessert is a hit for kids of all ages. Amateur Kitchen is making these sweet treats, St. Pattys Day worthy.


White cake mix 18 1/4 Ounce ((1 box of classic, preferably Pillsbury))
Eggs 3
Vegetable oil 1/3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
Water 1 1/4 Cup (20 tbs)
White frosting 8 Ounce
Green food color 2 Drop
Vanilla candy melts 28 Ounce ((2 bags))
Vegetable oil 3 Tablespoon
Sprinkles 1 Tablespoon ((green colored, for decorating))


Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large mixing bowl combine the cake mix, eggs, vegetable oil and water into a large bowl. Beat well with a mixer until all ingredients are well combined. Then add in the green food coloring, add more for a darker green and mix batter one more time.

Place cake batter into a pre-greased 13x9 baking dish and bake in the oven for 40 minutes.

After the cake has baked allow for it to cool down so it is easy to handle. While the cake is cooling put 8 oz of white frosting into a bowl and add in the green food coloring until it reaches the same color as the cake.

Once the cake has cooled, crumble the cake up in a large bowl and add in the colored frosting and use your hands to combine the frosting and cake. (If the cake seems dry add in a little more frosting until you are able to form a ball.)

Form cake balls and then place a lollypop stick into the center of the ball. Place upside down on a cookie sheet and repeat the process until all the cake is gone. Place the cake balls into a freezer for 30 minutes.

Right before you take out the slightly harden cake pops, pour candy melts in a large bowl and place the bowl in the microwave on high for 30 seconds at a time. Take out candy melts, stir and place back in the microwave for another 30 seconds. Repeat this process until the candy melts are melted. Once candy melts have melted add in green food coloring to desired color along with the 3 tbsp of vegetable oil (the oil will help keep the candy melts loose.)

Take cake pops out of freezer and begin to coat them with the candy melt and then top with sprinkles. Place on styrofoam to dry or upside down on a cookie sheet. Repeat the process for all cake pops. (It is easier if you work in batches of 5 just to keep the cake cooler and easier to handle.) Enjoy!
