Flour 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Baking powder 1 Teaspoon
Cornstarch 1 1/2 Teaspoon
Salt 1/2 Teaspoon
Egg yolks 4 , beaten
Sugar 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Flour 2 Tablespoon
Cold water 3 Tablespoon
Vanilla 1 Teaspoon
Egg whites 4 , beaten



1. Grease an angel food cake pan, tube pan or bunt pan with butter and dust with flour.

2. Preheat the oven to 300°F

3. Into a large basin, sift together thrice, the flour, baking powder, cornstarch and salt. Keep aside.


4. In a large mixing bowl, combine eggs, sugar, flour, water and vanilla.

5. Using an electric beater, or a wire whisk blend the ingredients well to form a batter.

6. Stir the batter into the sifted dry ingredients, using a spatula or a wooden spoon, in one direction to prevent your cake from becoming dense.

7. Gently fold in the beaten and stiff egg whites, making sure that you do not overwork the batter to keep it light

8. Immediately pour the batter into the prepared cake tins dividing it equally.

9. Bake the cake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.

10. Increase the oven temperature to 350° F and continue baking cake for 15 minutes or until the cake leave the sides of the pan and are spongy to touch. Insert a skewer and see if it comes out clean. It should be lightly browned.

11. Remove the cake from the oven wearing oven mitts and allow it to rest in the tin for 5 minutes then invert it on a wire rack to cool completely.


12. Serve with your favorite frosting or icing with tea or coffee.
