How To Make The Best Chocolate Cake From Scratch

Ditch the box cake mix and wow your friends and family with this ultra-moist, ultra fudgy devil's food chocolate cake- the best chocolate cake ever! No kidding. The best part? It's so simple to put together- you only need a bowl and a whisk. You'll never go back to a cake mix. So what are you waiting for? Go bake!

Ingredients

For the cake:
Light brown sugar 2 Cup (32 tbs) (I use demerara)
All purpose flour 1 3/4 Cup (28 tbs)
Unsweetened cocoa powder 3/4 Cup (12 tbs) (dark)
Baking powder 2 Teaspoon
Baking soda 1 Teaspoon
Salt 1 Teaspoon
Eggs 2
Buttermilk/Sour milk 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Strong black coffee 1 Cup (16 tbs) (1 cup water + 2 tsp instant espresso powder)
Vegetable oil 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Vanilla extract 1 Teaspoon
For frosting:
Unsalted butter 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) , melted (1 stick)
Dark cocoa powder/Sour milk 2/3 Cup (10.67 tbs)
Milk 1/3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
Powdered sugar 3 Cup (48 tbs)
Vanilla extract 1 Teaspoon
Salt 1/4 Teaspoon

Directions

GETTING READY:

Preheat oven to 350°F/ 180°C.

Grease baking pans with butter, line with parchment paper and dust with flour..

       

MAKING:

In a bowl, combine sugar, flour, cocoa, baking powder, soda, salt and mix well.

Add eggs, buttermilk and whisk well.

Add coffee, oil, vanilla and mix until well incorporated.

Divide the batter into two pans and pop into oven.

Bake for 30-35 minutes and allow to cool well.

For the frosting, melt butter and add cocoa powder to it. Whisk well.

Add powdered sugar and milk alternatively and beat until light and fluffy.

Stir in vanilla, salt and mix well.

Top with frosting and another cake. Cover with frosting completely and refrigerate until done.
