Tonight was burger night so I prepared a tasty BBQ burger with beer battered onion rings.

For bbq burger | ||
Ground hamburger | 2 Pound | |
Shredded monterey jack cheese | 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) | |
Barbecue sauce | 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) (homemade) | |
Coffee chilli rub | 2 Teaspoon (or your favorite) | |
For serving | ||
Potato rolls | 8 , sliced in half | |
Avocado slices | 16 | |
Tomato slices | 16 | |
For onion rings | ||
All purpose flour | 3 Cup (48 tbs) (divided, 2 cups for batter and 1 cup for coating) | |
Egg yolks | 2 , beaten | |
Melted butter | 4 Tablespoon | |
Beer | 1 Cup (16 tbs) (beer of your choice) | |
Onions | 3 Large , sliced about 1/2 inch thick | |
Oil | 2 Cup (32 tbs) (For deep frying) |
For BBQ Burger
GETTING READY
1. Preheat the grill and place a cast iron skillet on it.
MAKING
2. In a bowl, put together all the ingredients for burger and with clean hands mix them well until well combined.
3. Using a hamburger press shape the meat mixture in patties.
4. Place the patties on hot skillet and sear them well on both sides.
FINALIZING
5. Transfer the burger on grill and cook on indirect heat to finish cooking, place the cheese slices on burger if using.
6. Wipe of the fat from the skillet and place the buns and toast them lightly.
SERVING
7. Serve the burger patty over toasted buns, with sliced avocado, tomato slices and onion rings (recipe underneath) on side if desired.
For Onion rings
GETTING READY
1. Cut the onions in ½ inch thick slices.
2. In a pan, preheat the oil.
MAKING
3. In a bowl, mix together 2 cups of flour, with all the remaining ingredients for batter
4. Roll the onion ring in flour, dip it in batter and deep fry it until golden brown in color.
5. Remove the onion ring and drain them on paper towel.
SERVING
6. Serve hot as desired.
