My version of the classic "Oklahoma Onion Burger" which was first served up by "Sid's Diner" in El Reno, Oklahoma during the great depression.
80/20 ground beef | 1 Pound (1/3 pound meat used for each patty) | |
Shredded onion | 1 Cup (16 tbs) | |
Salt and pepper | To Taste | |
Burger bun | 3 | |
Cheese slice | 3 | |
Pickle slices | 25 Gram (as needed) | |
Yellow mustard sauce | To Taste |
GETTING READY
1. Preheat and grease the griddle of Weber with oil.
MAKING
2. Clump meat and place it on the griddle. Press with spatula to form patty.
3. Top the patties with shredded onion and press well.
4. Season with salt and pepper. Flip and cook on the other side until done. Sprinkle salt and pepper on other side of patties.
5. Top patties with cheese.
6. Toast buns on the grill side of Weber.
FINALIZING
7. On the bottom slice of bun place the patty and top it with pickle slices and mustard.
SERVING
8. Cover with the top slice and serve burger hot.
