Chocolate Brownie by Tarla Dalal

A rich, dark chocolate brownie which is ideal for a tea party or even as a dessert if served with a dollop of vanilla ice-cream.

Ingredients

Plain flour 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) (maida)
Cocoa powder 4 Tablespoon
Sour yogurt 2 Tablespoon (sour curds (khatta dahi))
Soda bi carb 1/4 Teaspoon
Melted butter 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Powdered sugar 5 Tablespoon
Vanilla essence 1/2 Teaspoon
Roughly chopped walnuts 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Hot water 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
For greasing
Butter 1 Tablespoon (For greasing)

Directions

GETTING READY

1. Using a sieve, sift together flour and cocoa powder. Keep aside.

2. In a bowl, mix together curd and soda-bi-carb, and keep aside.

3. In another bowl, combine together melted butter, vanilla essence, powdered sugar, and half cup of hot water, and whisk well. Add the curd-soda mixture and mix properly.

4. Now, add flour mix and walnuts, and mix in a gentle way to prepare a smooth batter of dropping consistency.

5. Take a microwave safe dish, grease it with butter, line it with grease proof paper, and again grease it with little amount of butter.

MAKING

6. Into this greased microwave dish, pour in the batter and spread it in an even manner.

7. Microwave on high for around four minutes. Turn off microwave.

8. Allow the brownie to cool slightly and un-mould by turning upside down on a plate.

SERVING

9. Discard the grease proof paper, and serve the brownie as a snack.
