Betty demonstrates how to make Cheddar Cayenne Biscuits. These are spicy biscuits containing Cheddar cheese and chopped pecans.

Ingredients

Cold butter 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) , cut into small cubes
Self rising flour
Cheddar cheese 2 Cup (32 tbs) , finely shredded
Cayenne pepper 1/2 Teaspoon
Chopped pecans 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Milk 3/4 Cup (12 tbs)
Melted butter 2 Tablespoon (for greasing)
Coarse salt 1/2 Teaspoon

Directions

GETTING READY

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.

MAKING

In a large bowl, use a pastry blender to cut butter into flour.

Also, cut in shredded Cheddar cheese.

Stir in cayenne pepper and pecans.

Add milk and mix just until a ball forms.

Place ball of dough on clean surface that has been sprinkled with flour. Knead a few times and flatten dough slightly.

On floured surface, use a rolling pin to roll the dough to ½-inch thickness. Cut with a 2-inch to 2 ¼-inch biscuit cutter.

Place biscuits in an ungreased baking pan. Brush each biscuit top with a small amount of butter and sprinkle with a small amount of coarse salt. Bake for about 10 minutes, or until golden brown.

SERVING

Remove from oven and transfer immediately to a nice serving plate.
