Baked Beans with Buttered Rice by Tarla Dalal

Rice, when tossed with a dollop of butter, gets a luxurious aroma and flavor that is subtle but easily noticeable. Ingredients

For buttered rice
Butter 2 Tablespoon
Cooked rice 2 1/4 Cup (36 tbs)
Salt To Taste
For the baked beans
Butter 1 Tablespoon
Finely chopped onion 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Garlic paste 1 Teaspoon
Finely chopped capsicum 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Chili powder 1/2 Teaspoon
Canned baked beans 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Tomato ketchup 2 Tablespoon
Other ingredients
Grated processed cheese 2 Tablespoon

Directions

MAKING

For Buttered Rice:

1.In non-stick pan, heat butter and saute rice with salt over medium flame for 1-2 minutes and set aside.

For Baked Beans:

2. Place a non-stick pan over medium flame, heat butter and saute onion for 1 minute.

3. Add garlic paste and capsicum. Saute over medium flame for 2-3 minutes.

4. Stir in chili powder, baked beans, tomato ketchup and salt. Stir occasionally and cook for 2 minutes.

FINALIZING

5. In a 9-inch microwave safe baking dish, transfer the rice and spread evenly.

6. Pour the baked beans mixture in the centre and spread it evenly.

7. Sprinkle the cheese evenly over it and microwave on HIGH for 3-4 minutes.

SERVING

8. Serve hot.
