Quick Spicy Garbanzo Beans

Chopped onion 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Oil 1 Tablespoon
Finely chopped garlic 1 Teaspoon
Chopped tomatoes 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Salt 1 Teaspoon
Turmeric 1/2 Teaspoon
Chili powder 1/2 Teaspoon
Cumin powder 1/2 Teaspoon
Coriander powder 1 1/2 Teaspoon
Garam masala powder/Curry powder 3/4 Teaspoon
Water 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Canned garbanzo beans 16 Ounce , rinsed, drained (1 Can)
Water 1 1/4 Cup (20 tbs)
Chopped cilantro 2 Tablespoon


Saute onions in oil in skillet over medium-low heat for 5 minutes.

Stir in garlic.

Saute for 2 minutes.

Add tomatoes.

Cook, covered, for 5 minutes or until tomatoes are tender.

Stir in salt, turmeric, chili powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and garam masala.

Saute for 1 minute.

Add 1/4 cup water; mix well.

Cook, covered, for 3 to 5 minutes or until heated through, stirring frequently.

Add beans and remaining water.

Bring to a boil; reduce heat.

Simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Stir in cilantro; mix well.

Add additional water if desired.

Cook until heated through.
