How to Make Refried Beans from Scratch

Learn how to make Refried Beans from Scratch, these are so easy to make, and so delicious. I have directions for an instantpot available. These peans require dried pinto beans, cilantro, while onion, and bacon grease. These beans are naturally gluten free and they are so easy to make.

Ingredients

Dry pinto beans 2 Cup (32 tbs) , washed and sorted
Water 6 Cup (96 tbs)
Bay leaves 2
Bacon drippings 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Cilantro stems 1 Bunch (100 gm)
White onion 1/2 , chopped
Garlic 3 Clove (15 gm) (2 or 3 cloves)
Cumin 1/2 Teaspoon
Salt 2 Teaspoon (1 to 2 teaspoons)

Directions

MAKING

In a large pot, add in the bacon fat, onion and cilantro stems.

Add in the garlic, bay leaves and cumin.

Put pinto beans into the pot and cover with water. Bring to a boil and then lower heat to simmer, covered, for about 2 1/2 hours.

 Season the beans with salt and mash with an immersion blender.

 

SERVING

Garnish the beans with some cheese and serve.
