Plantain Cheese Burst

Think of biting into something that is sweet, soft and slightly firm on the outside and slightly salty and juicy on the inside? Its just heavenly and thats exactly what this dish is all about. Be it a tasty evening snack or an after meal dessert, this can pretty much serve the purpose. Give it a try and its sure going to please you.


Ripe plantain 2 Small
Ground pepper 1 Pinch
Cheese slice 16 Gram (the kind you use on breads, 3/4th of that)
Ghee 1/2 Teaspoon , clarified butter (For greasing)



1. Cut the plantains into half and steam for about 10 minutes. Remove the peel and slit open the pieces to remove the black thread-like filament from inside.

2. Using a masher or hand, thoroughly mash the flesh.

3. Add a pinch of pepper powder to the mashed plantain and combine well.

4. Take a cheese slice and make it into 16 equal pieces.


5. Preheat oven to 200 degree Celsius. Line a baking tray with aluminum foil.

6. Divide the mashed plantains into 5-6 equal portions.

7. Grease your hand and form each portion into a rough ball. Flatten this slightly and keep 2 slices of cheese in the middle. Bring together the sides and again rolling between the palms make it into a nice smooth ball. Repeat the process with other portions too.

This recipe will yield about 5-6 such balls and you will have some cheese slices remaining.

8. Place these balls in the prepared baking tray. Bake for about 10-15 minutes. And then change to grill mode and grill for another 2-2.5 minutes.


9. Serve warm when the cheese is still juicy. Enjoy!
