Homemade Gobi Momos

These are homemade all purpose flour (maida) dumplings stuffed with cauliflower mash. The dish has its origin in Nepal and is now popular in many Asian countries. Momos can be made both vegetarian and non vegetarian, wherein the stuffing may include cabbage, cauliflower, mutton mince, chicken mince etc. Here I am sharing a vegetarian momos recipe stuffed with cauliflower a perfect snack to have on the menu of Diwali party or any other get together.


Vegetable oil 2 Teaspoon (for greasing)
Wheat flour 1 Cup (16 tbs) (For dusting)
For stuffing
Cauliflower 1 Small
Salt To Taste
Red chili powder 1/4 Teaspoon
For dough
All purpose flour 2 Cup (32 tbs)
Water 1 1/2 Cup (24 tbs)



1. DOUGH: Prepare a firm dough by kneading all purpose flour with water. Add water gradually, so as to attain the right consistency of the dough.

2. STUFFING: cut the cauliflower into pieces and put the pieces in the chopper. Run the chopper until the cauliflower is almost crushed. Now add seasonings and spices to the crushed cauliflower.


3. Take a portion of the dough and form a ball of about an inch. Dust the dough ball with wheat flour and flatten it on the rolling board with the help of rolling pin.

4. Now place a spoonful of stuffing over the flattened dough. Bring together the edges over the center and twist to seal the stuffed dough.

5. Repeat the same procedure with the remaining dough and the cauliflower stuffing.

6. Now grease the idli molds with vegetable oil and place the stuffed flour balls in the molds.

7. Now cook the cauliflower stuffed momos in the idli cooker on high heat until a whistle comes thereafter simmer and allow the momos to steam for another 5 minutes or so.

8. Turn off the heat.

9. Take the momos out of the idli molds with the help of a spoon.

10. Transfer the momos to a serving plate and serve them with tomato ketchup on the side.
