Salt and Pepper Calamari/Squid

Salt and Pepper Squid is a popular dim sum dish that's crispy, salty and savory. Make this easy dish at home and serve it to guests, family and friends. One bite and you'll want more, but be careful! Just because it doesn't have MSG like most restaurant style dishes, it is still high in sodium and oil.

Ingredients

Jalapeno 1 , chopped (for garnishing)
Green onion 1 , chopped (for garnishing)
Calamari 1 Cup (16 tbs) , ring
Corn starch 8 Tablespoon
Sea salt 1 Tablespoon , ground
Pepper corn 1 Tablespoon , ground
Oil 1 Cup (16 tbs)

Directions

GETTING READY

1. In a large bowl combine sea salt, pepper corn and corn starch.

MAKING

2. Heat oil in a pan.

3. Add in jalapeno and green onion.

4. Drain out jalapeno and green onion from oil after a few seconds.

5. Lower the flame of stove to medium.

6. Evenly coat the calamari with corn-starch mixture.

7. Fry calamari rings in the hot oil for one minute.

8. Remove calamari rings from oil when done and drain on a paper towel.

SERVING

9. Garnish calamari with fried jalapeno and green onions and serve.
