Hips Don't Lie Appetizer

A delicious fig and brie appetizer everyone will enjoy. Don't forget to put on some Shakira while you make this.


For jam
Dried figs 2 Cup (32 tbs) , cut into 1/2 inch pieces
Chopped orange 2
Walnuts 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Crushed anise seed 1/2 Teaspoon
Freshly grated ginger 1 Teaspoon
Crushed pepper 1/4 Teaspoon
Sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Lemon juice 2 Tablespoon
Water 3 Cup (48 tbs)
For other ingredients
Puff pastry sheets 2
Brie 1 Pound
Egg wash 2 Tablespoon
Black sesame seeds 1 Tablespoon



1. Preheat the oven to 400 F.


1. Take fig, sugar, chopped oranges, anise seeds, grated ginger, crushed pepper, lemon juice, lemon juice and water in a pot.

2. Bring everything to boil. Let it simmer until everything thickens to the consistency of honey.

3. Remove the jam from heat and let it cool down.

4. Lay a puff pastry sheet on a baking sheet.

5. Arrange brie pieces over the puff pastry. Spoon some fig jam all over such that you leave at least an inch on each side.

6. Cover with the other puff pastry sheet.

7. Seal the edges.Fold the edges to make a pattern.

8. Brush with egg wash and then sprinkle black sesame seeds all over the pastry.

9. Bake in preheated oven for about 40 minutes or until golden brown.

10. Let it cool down for atleast 10 minutes.


11. Slice and serve. Enjoy.
