Reduced Sugar Apple Berry Roly Poly

The Classic Apple Roly Poly is an easy to prepare comfort food that has remained quite a favorite down the years. This recipe attempts to boost the nutritional aspect of this dish by use of antioxidant rich berries and stevia.


Apples with skin 2 Cup (32 tbs) , sliced
Strawberry 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) , sliced
Blueberry 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Raspberry 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Stevia powder 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Cinnamon 1/2 Teaspoon
Lemon rind 2 Teaspoon , grated
Mixed grain prepared biscuit dough 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Unsalted butter 1 Tablespoon , melted



1.In a large bowl, combine apples,berries, stevia, cinnamon, and lemon rind.

2.Roll prepared biscuit dough into a rectangle 1/4 inch thick.

3.Dot with butter and spread the apple mixture; then roll up like jelly roll.

4.Wet the edges and press firmly together so that juices from the fruit will not escape.

5.Place roll in the middle of a sheet of aluminium foil and pack it neatly, so as to secure all sides, to ensure water does not enter.

6.Steam for 1 1/2 hours.


7.Serve warm with a drizzle of honey.
