Golden Apple Turnovers

Ingredients

Piecrust mix 10 Ounce (1 Package)
Canned pie sliced apples 1 Pound , drained (1 Can)
Brown sugar 3 Tablespoon
Ground allspice 1/2 Teaspoon
Shortening/Vegetable oil 2 Cup (32 tbs) (For Deep Frying)
10x confectioners sugar 2 Cup (32 tbs) (Powdered)

Directions

MAKING

1 Prepare piecrust mix, or make a pastry from your favorite double-crust recipe. Roll out, half at a time, 1/2 inch thick, on a lightly floured pastry cloth or board. Cut out 12 rounds with a 4-inch cooky cutter.

2 In a medium size bowl,toss apples with brown sugar and allspice.Spread 2 tablespoonfuls apple mixture over half of each pastry round; fold other half evenly over the filling; press around edges lightly with a fork to seal.

3 In a large rying pan or deep fat fryer, melt enough shortening or pour vegetable oil to make a depth of 1 inch; heat to 350 degrees farenheit.

4 Drop turnovers, a few at a time, into the hot fat and fry, turning often for 3 to 5 minutes, or until golden. Remove from the pan with a slotted spoon and drain well on paper towels. While still warm, sprinkle with 10X sugar.

SERVING

5 Serve lightly warm.
