Golden Apple Turnovers

Ingredients

Piecrust mix 300 Gram (1 Package)
Brown sugar 3 Tablespoon
Ground allspice 1/2 Teaspoon
Vegetable shortening/Vegetable oil 2 Cup (32 tbs) (For Frying)

Directions

1. Prepare piecrust mix, or make pastry from your favorite double-crust recipe. Roll out, half at a time, 1/4 inch thick, on a lightly floured pastry cloth or board. Cut out 12 rounds with a 4-inch cooky cutter.

2. Toss apples with brown sugar and allspice in a medium-size bowl. Spread 2 tablespoons apple mixture over half of each pastry round; fold other half evenly over filling; press around edges lightly with a fork to seal.

3. Melt enough vegetable shortening or pour oil into a large skillet or deep-fat fryer to make a depth of 1 inch; heat to 350°.

4. Drop turnovers, a few at a time, in hot fat; fry, turning often, for 3 to 5 minutes, or until golden; remove from pan with a slotted spoon and drain well on paper toweling. While still warm, sprinkle with 10X sugar; serve slightly warm.
