Apple Crisp With Maple Cream

Ingredients

For apple crisp:
Apples 5 Large , peeled, sliced (firm, slightly tart)
Light brown sugar 3/4 Cup (12 tbs) (firmly packed)
Old fashioned oats 3/4 Cup (12 tbs) (not Quick Cooking)
All purpose flour 3/4 Cup (12 tbs)
Sliced almonds 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) (plus little extra for garnish)
Cinnamon 3 Teaspoon
Butter 6 Tablespoon (room temperature)
Crisco shortening 6 Tablespoon (not butter flavor)
For the maple cream:
Heavy whipping cream 8 Ounce
Confectioners' sugar 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
Maple syrup 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)

Directions

GETTING READY:

Preheat oven to 350F.

Grease baking dish with butter.

MAKING:

Place apple into baking dish.

In a bowl, combine light brown sugar, oatmeal, flour, cinnamon, butter, shortening and mix well.

Add almonds and mix well.

Transfer to baking dish over apple slices and pop into oven.

Bake for 45 minutes.

For maple cream, beat whipping cream until soft peaks.

Add powdered sugar, maple syrup and beat well.

Chill until serving.

Top each serving of crisp with prepared maple cream before serving.

Garnish with sliced almonds.
