Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
Pepper | 3/4 Teaspoon , divided | |
Chopped celery | 3/4 Cup (12 tbs) | |
Finely chopped onion | 3/4 Cup (12 tbs) | |
Garlic clove | 2 , chopped finely (or a teaspoon of garlic powder) | |
Brown sugar | 3 Tablespoon | |
White distilled vinegar | 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) | |
Ketchup | 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) | |
Canned chopped tomatoes | 14 1/2 Ounce | |
Worcestershire sauce | 2 Tablespoon | |
Hamburger buns | 6 | |
Butter | 2 Teaspoon |
MAKING
1. In a bowl, place tomatoes, add worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, ketchup and 1/4th teaspoon of pepper, stir to mix.
2. In a large skillet. heated over medium high flame, add hamburger, break lightly, add onion, celery and garlic cook until the hamburger is done, season with salt and pepper.
3. Add in the prepared sauce mixture, stir to mix, reduce the heat to low and allow to simmer for about 10 minutes. Lightly butter the hamburger buns and broil in the oven until golden brown.
SERVING
4. Spoon the filling onto the toasted buns and serve.
