Huli Huli Chicken (Hawaiian BBQ Chicken)

A super easy recipe for making the classic Hawaiian dish, Huli Huli Chicken. I did this on my Weber.


Whole chicken 1
For bbq sauce
Soy sauce 3/4 Cup (12 tbs)
Packed brown sugar 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Chicken broth 1/3 Cup (5.33 tbs)
Ketchup 3/4 Cup (12 tbs)
Red wine vinegar 2 Tablespoon
Fresh grated ginger 2 1/2 Teaspoon
Garlic cloves 6 , crush



1. Butterfly chicken, rinse and pat it dry.

For Sauce:

2. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, brown sugar, chicken broth, ketchup, rice wine vinegar, ginger, and garlic. Mix well and set aside.

3. In zip-lock bag, place the chicken and pour sauce, just enough to coat the bird. Seal the bag and pop in fridge for 5 hours.


4. In grilling basket, place the chicken and cook for 40 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degree F, basting occasionally with the remaining sauce.

5. Remove chicken from grill and allow it to cool.


6. Carve chicken and serve with salad.
