Heavenly Herbed Whole Wheat Popovers For You

A popover is essentially a light, hollow roll made using an egg batter and is typically baked in a muffin tin. The term "popover" came about because it is so light and fluffy that it pops over the top of the muffin tin as it gets baked.

Ingredients

Oil 1 Teaspoon (For greasing)
Herbed chevre 2 Ounce , cut into either 6 or 12 pieces
Egg whites 4
Whole egg 1
Whole wheat flour 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Garlic salt with parsley 1/2 Teaspoon
Red chili flakes 1/2 Teaspoon (Leveled)
Dried herbs 1/2 Teaspoon
Skimmed milk 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Fat free cream cheese 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)

Directions

GETTING READY

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

2. Brush 6 standard size or 12 mini popover cups with oil and place in preheated oven so the pan will be very hot when you pour the popover batter in them (this is a very important step for your popovers to rise properly during baking).

MAKING

3. Place egg, egg whites, flour, garlic salt, red chili flakes and dried herbs in blender and blend about 10 seconds until well combined. Scrape down sides of blender if needed.

4. With blender running, slowly pour in milk and cream cheese and blend until smooth.

5. Remove popover pan from oven and fill each cup half way with batter. Place a piece of cheese in the center of each cup and pour remaining batter to fill each cup 2/3 full.

6. Bake popovers at 400 degrees F (200 C) for 25 minutes, then reduce heat to 350 degrees F (180 C) and bake for an additional 15 minutes until popovers are puffed and golden.

SERVING

7. These Popovers are best served warm.

Tips - These popovers may be baked in either a standard 6 cup popover or muffin pan, or a 12 cup mini popover or muffin pan.
