Milk | 6 Cup (96 tbs) | |
Uncooked white rice | 2/3 Cup (10.67 tbs) | |
Sugar | 1/3 Cup (5.33 tbs) | |
Vanilla extract | 1 Tablespoon | |
Salt | 3/4 Teaspoon | |
Toasted nuts | 2 Tablespoon ((as desired, toasted sliced almonds used)) (Optional) | |
Dried fruits | 1 Tablespoon ((as desired, combination of dried cherries, dried blueberries, and golden raisins used)) (Optional) |
MAKING
1. In a large heavy pot, combine milk, rice, sugar, vanilla, and salt. Mix well and bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring constantly.
2. Reduce heat to low, cover pot with lid, and cook for 15 minutes.
3. Remove lid from pot and continue to cook, stirring often for about 15 minutes or until rice is tender and sauce has slightly thickened.
4. Remove from heat and let cool for about 5 minutes. Transfer into a nice serving bowl. Cover and refrigerate 4 hours or up to overnight.
SERVING
5. Sprinkle a few toasted nuts and dried fruit on top and serve chilled.
