Fresh Cherry Cobbler

Cornstarch 2 Tablespoon
Sugar 2 Tablespoon
Ground allspice 1/8 Teaspoon
White grape juice 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Pitted sweet cherries 4 Cup (64 tbs) (Fresh)
Almond extract 1/2 Teaspoon
Vegetable cooking spray 1 (As Required)
Whole wheat flour 1/4 Cup (4 tbs)
All purpose flour
Salt 1/8 Teaspoon
Ground cinnamon 1/8 Teaspoon
Shortening 2 1/2 Tablespoon
Cold water 1 1/2 Tablespoon



1)Mix cornstarch, sugar, and allspice in a saucepan. 2)Stir the mixture in grape juice and blend it.

3)Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until clear and thickened.

4)Further remove the mixture from heat and stir in cherries and almond extract.

5)Use a 1 1/2-quart casserole coated with cooking spray and spoon mixture into it and set it aside.

6)Next mix flour, salt, and cinnamon.

7)Use a pastry blender to cut in shortening until mixture becomes smooth.

8)Sprinkle cold water evenly over surface and stir with a fork until all dry ingredients are moistened.

9)Roll out pastry to 1/8 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface,give decorative shape to it.

10)Place pastry cutouts on top of cherry mixture


11)Bake at 425° for 20 minutes or until lightly browned.
