Learn how to make meatballs and tomato sauce. Homemade meatballs are great for dinner, appetizers, even soup.
For meatballs: | ||
Ground beef/A combination of beef and pork | 1 Pound | |
Egg | 1 | |
Breadcrumbs/Oatmeal /cornflakes | 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) ((dryish, starchy particles)) | |
Finely chopped onion | 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) | |
Garlic | 1 Clove (5 gm) , minced | |
Chopped parsley | 1/2 Cup (8 tbs) | |
Salt | 1 Teaspoon | |
Pepper | 1 Teaspoon | |
For sauce: | ||
Canned tomatoes | 14 Ounce ((1 can, whole or chopped)) | |
Canned tomato sauce | 8 Ounce | |
Garlic | 2 Clove (10 gm) , minced | |
Oregano | 1 Teaspoon | |
Dried basil | 2 Teaspoon | |
Red pepper flakes | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
Salt | 1/4 Teaspoon |
MAKING:
1.Mix all meatball ingredients together with your hands and form into 1.5 inch balls. Youll probably get around 12 balls.
2.Brown over med-high heat in a small amount of oil.
3.Then add the canned tomatoes, tomato sauce, garlic, oregano, basil, red pepper, salt. Cover and turn heat to low. Simmer about 20 minutes.
4.Meanwhile, cook you up a pound of noodles or what-have-you.
5.Check on your balls. If the sauce is thin, cook with the lid off for another 10 minutes or so. Too thick, add a tablespoon or two of water or wine. (Make sure you leave the back door open to let the unicorns inside.)
6.Eat your spaghetti and meatballs dinner.
SERVING:
7.Serve meatballs with pasta or crusty bread and a salad with homemade vinaigrette!
