My grandma's Southern cornbread dressing recipe is easy and uses only a few ingredients. Classic for Thanksgiving.
|Cornbread||6 , crumbled|
|Stalk celery||8 , dice (about 3 cups)|
|Onion||1 , dice (about 1 cup)|
|Garlic||1 Clove (5 gm) , mince|
|Black pepper||1 Tablespoon|
|Canned vegetable broth/Chicken broth||1 Can (10 oz) (1 can)|
1.Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
2. Saute the celery, onion and garlic in 2 tablespoons of the butter about 10 minutes until softened.
3.Combine with the cornbread crumbs, black pepper, and broth (and whatever extra things you want to add).
4.Put all into a greased 913 casserole, melt the remaining butter and pour over the top.
5.Bake for 20 minutes.
6.Serve and Enjoy.
1.Optional ingredients: chopped pecans, diced red bell pepper, crumbled bacon, minced parsley, 1 t sage or thyme
2.This dressing is tender and crumbly and perfect for soaking up gravy. If you like a denser, more firm stuffing, add in two beaten eggs with the chicken broth and bake as directed.
