Check out this recipe for making Salsbury Steak, other wise known as hamburgers with gravy. This recipe makes an great weeknight dinner. You with need some ground beef, onions, chicken stock, and some dry sherry.
Ground chuck | 2 Pound | |
Granulated onion | 1/2 Teaspoon | |
Dry mustard powder | 1/4 Teaspoon | |
Garlic powder | 1 Teaspoon | |
Worcestershire sauce | 1 Teaspoon | |
Dried bread crumbs | 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) | |
Egg | 1 | |
Onion | 1 , 1/4 inch pieces | |
Flour | 2 Tablespoon | |
Dry sherry | 1/4 Cup (4 tbs) | |
Chicken stock/Beef stock | 2 Cup (32 tbs) | |
Salt | 1 Teaspoon |
MAKING
For the patties – in a large bowl, mix together all the ingredients and mix well with hands.
Divide the mixture into 4 equal parts and make patties.
Heat a shallow pan and place the patties; cook two minutes on each side.
Take out the patties and place in a plate. Into the same pan add in the onions and cook until soft.
Add in the flour and cook, until pie like fragrance comes.
Now, pour the dry sherry and chicken stock. Season with salt and let it simmer for a few minutes, uncovered.
SERVING
Place the patties and pour some gravy over it and serve.
