So pretty much everyone knows that this cocktails invention is touted as a marketing tool to introduce Vodka to the American masses - and thereby securing vodka the top slot in sales... Cute story, but we'll never know if it's really true or how much is later embellishment.
A couple of keys to a great Moscow Mule are the crushed ice - you want a mix of small shards, snow, and chunks. This is easily achievable by wrapping cubes in a tea towel and smacking it with a rolling pin great energy release as well. The second is Ginger Beer don't use Ginger Ale, it lacks the depth, spice and complexity of Ginger Beer. We've also seen this mixed with a home made ginger syrup soda... it was pretty fantastic as well.

Making
Crush ice in a Lewis Bag, or folded inside a tea towel.
Fill a Moscow Mule Copper mug with the crushed ice.
Add rest of the ingredients to the mug and stir.
Serving
Garnish with a lime wheel and serve.
