Brittany Allyn - Savor the Flavors - Great American Hot Dog Tour

Savor the Flavors host, Brittany Allyn takes you on a hot dog tour across the U. S. featuring hot dog stands in four different states, Indiana, Arizona, Hawaii and her hometown favorite in Nashville, TN. Each hot dog stand is unique, historic and/or showcases local flavors. In the My Recipe Box segment of the show Brittany shares her recipe for a Break Fast Brunch Dog and as a spirit pairing, an Orangina Shandy.


For the hot dog
Hot dogs 8
Hot dog buns 8 (Preferably Pepperidge Farm Top Slice)
Thin bacon slice 4 , cut half lengthwise
Hollandaise sauce mix 1 Packet (Knorr)
Milk 1 Cup (16 tbs)
Butter 1/2 Cup (8 tbs)
Maple syrup 2 Tablespoon
Cayenne pepper 1 Dash
Hard boiled eggs 2 , diced
Tomato 1 , seeded and diced
Scallion greens 2 , thinly sliced
Softened butter To Taste (For the buns)



Prepare the hollandaise sauce. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the milk, the sauce mix, and the cayenne.

Whisk the mixture together and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer, while whisking, until the sauce thickens. Keep warm until ready to serve.

Meanwhile heat a griddle or skillet to 400 F.

Wrap one bacon slice around each hot dog wrapping it around as many times as possible covering the hot dog.

Place the hot dogs on a griddle and cook and turn them until the bacon is completely cooked and browned. When the bacon is completely cooked, lightly brush the hot dogs with maple syrup.

Turn them over and brush the other side with syrup. Lightly butter both sides (outside) of the hot dog buns and place on the griddle to toast each side. When the buns are toasted put a hot dog in each bun. Spoon some of the hollandaise sauce over the top and sprinkle with egg, tomato and scallion.

For the Orangina Shandy, fill a beer glass with ice. Add equal parts beer and Orangina. Garnish with a squeeze of fresh lime juice.


Serve immediately.
